OUR COMMISSION IS TO BE WITNESSES

Everyone knows Samson in the Book of Judges for his feats of strength, but I’ve noticed some things about Samson that we tend to overlook.

His whole life from womb to tomb was to be committed to Yehovah Elomin - God and His service. He was not to cut his hair; he was not to drink anything alcoholic; he was not to touch any dead bodies. These were signs of a separateness, a holiness. Not only was he given a call, Judges 13:5 gives us a peek into the purpose of his life.

“For behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. No razor shall come upon his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb, and he shall begin to save Israel from the hand of the Philistines” (Judges 13:5, ESV).

Samson would grow up and begin delivering Yehovah’s people out of the hands of their enemies. What a wonderful responsibility! He was given a call and commission directly from Yehovah.

Many of us today think, “I’m just a normal person with no special skills or abilities. I have to wonder what my purpose in life is.” The answer is in the scriptures, for everyone whom Yehovah has set apart for Himself and destined to enter the coming new age as new creations in the Messiah Jesus, has a commisson from Yehovah.

Paul writes, “For we are his workmanship, created in the Messiah Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10).

We are meant to be doing the work that God has put us on earth to do, and the importance of this is emphasized in another of Paul’s letters. “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of the Messiah, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil” (2 Corinthians 5:10).

Jesus set us an example of what we are to proclaim to all we meet and that is the message of coming kingdom [Kingship] of Yehovah, and who the real Jesus is! Let people know he is coming to set up a Theocratic Government that will rule over all the nations of the world, when he takes his place on the throne of David at Zion. Then there will be peace when Shiloah comes.

You have a real and tangible mission to accomplish!

If you are not sure what you should be doing at any give moment; ask Yehovah your God and Father what He wants you to do, and then listen for the answer. It doesn’t matter what your age, gender, income, education level or location is.

All of us have been commissioned to be witnesses of all that Jesus the Messiah wants us to accomplish: to pull people "out of the fire" and deliver them from the hands of the enemy, Satan. Our lives are not to be lived for ourselves! Quite the contrary. We are to serve others in bringing them the message of deliverance - salvation, enabled to do so by the power of the spirit of the only true God - Yehovah.
