The
Remnant
The
remnant, at any time, will be found to consist of those believers who
feel and own the common failure and ruin of Christendom, and count on
Yehovah and hold fast to His word!
These
are the characteristic signs of the remnant in every age, who
acknowledge the failure but realize that Yehovah is faithful, and His
mercy is everlasting.
However
Christendom has failed, it is the privilege of every individual
believer to enjoy as full and precious fellowship with Yehovah, and
follow a true path of discipleship as bond-servants of the lord
Jesus.
Divine
grace will always meet, as it ever does, those who truly confess
their failure and weakness; who realize that without the indwelling
presence of the Spirit of God they are helpless to fulfill His plan
and purpose for them in their individual lives.
Notice
what Yehovah says to King Josiah: … because your heart was tender,
and you did humble yourself before me when you heard my words toward
this place, and against the inhabitants you humbled yourself before
me, and did rend your clothes, and weep before me; I even I have
heard you, says Yehovah – 2 Chronicles 34:26-27.
A
contrite heart and weeping eyes are the results of the word of God
acting on the heart and conscience, which leads to a deep personal
devotion to God in total commitment to carrying out His will. This
will automatically cause us to not give in to the condition of the
things around us in order that we can live above them and pass through
as witnesses proclaiming the message of the good news of the Kingdom of God,
the Kingship of God, which was the main message of His son Jesus and his disciples.
The
believing remnant knows that Christendom is a hopeless wreck, and
that any human attempt to restore it is a delusion. We can with resolve go
forward holding fast to the message that Jesus and the apostles
preached and wrote about, the Kingdom, Kingship of God. The greater
the ruin, the greater the riches of God's grace, the deeper the
gloom, the brighter the flashes of individual faith.
May
the Spirit of God work mightily in the hearts of all His people,
healing, restoring, reviving, and maintaining a faithful called-out Assembly who
look forward to the coming of the lord Jesus to take his place on the
throne of David at Zion as the Messiah of Israel and Lord of all the
nations that survive the Wrath of God.
There
is always a remnant marked off from the mass of corrupt profession, and
characterized by a genuine attachment to God's anointed one, to his
interests, and to every member of his body, the called-out Assembly.
No
human language can set forth the importance of having a divinely
settled authority for our narrow path. All we want is to be absolutely and
completely governed by it, to have it hidden in our hearts acting on
our consciences, forming our character, governing our conduct in
everything. To give the word of God this place is one of the marked
characteristics of the believing remnant.
Christendom
has utterly failed; its corporate unity is hopelessly gone, just as
we see in the history of Israel. But the believing remnant is made up
of all those who truly feel and own the ruin that has taken place,
who are governed by the word of God and led by His Spirit, in
separation from all that is contrary to that word, to wait for the
lord Jesus coming.
There
is no pretension of the remnant to set themselves up to be anything,
no attempt to ignore the sad and solemn fact of the utter ruin of the
professing Churches. It is a believing remnant in the midst of
Christendom's ruins, true to the only true God and true to that God's
anointed one, true to his word, and knit together in brotherly love,
love in the Spirit, love to all who love our lord Jesus God's
anointed in sincerity and truth, seeking to show him forth in their
lives and actions.
Again
I mention that the greater the ruin the richer the grace of God, the
deeper the gloom, the brighter the outshining of individual faith.
May all those who make up the believing remnant hold fast to the end of their lives, or this age, the words of the lord Jesus recognizing him as their lord and
master.
